Bob the Turkey popped up in 2011 in an uninhabited green space right along Main Street; he stood on the sidewalk, pecked at police cars, and stayed in his cozy home through the hot summer days and through the early winter nights. Along the way, hundreds of people discovered Bob, to the point where he developed a following of nearly 1,500 likes on his personal Facebook page.
Elm Street (then Towne Lake Arts Center) provides performing arts productions, classes, and camps to and with the surrounding community. Elm Street Cultural Arts Village was formed to provide not only theatrical arts but visual arts, music, dance, and culinary arts. To do so, Elm Street and the City of Woodstock collaborated on acquiring a 4-acre property and green space to grow this vision.
Since then, the theatre has expanded to attract the Greater Northern Atlanta area with professional and semi-professional talent as well as receiving 9 Metropolitan Atlanta Theatre Awards. We continue to engage our audiences by presenting diverse seasons with cultural and entertaining productions. We’ve extended our outreach by giving schools opportunities to creatively participate in our programming like RepTouR, which sees over 10,000 students every year.
